The Ubantu Village for all aims to provide a physical space for immigrants and refugees, their families and their existing and/or emerging organizations to gather and learn. In order to enhance the quality of life of the communities we serve, the Village will implement a multi-dimensional approach utilizing the following strategies:
- Bridge gaps in services
- Build Capacity for organizations
- Network to find solutions
- Provide direct and referral services
- Advocate with and for people served
The word "ubuntu" means compassion and humanity. To us at IRRVA, the heart of a village lives within the people. It is a place where purpose is established, relationships are strengthened, creativity is nurtured, and identity is reinforced". The idea of a Village is one of:
- Solidarity
- Culture
- Strength
- Leadership
- Creativity
- Unity in diversity
